Sure, you've probably heard about Spam, but how about Cram, the meat-in-a-can so nasty that your mom has to shove it down your throat? And you might be familiar with the name Polident, but what about Pollydent, the favorite tooth cleaner for parrots everywhere?
These are just a few of the parody packages you might find in your blind pack of Wacky Packages, a collection of bizarro boxes, tubes, and cans of common consumer products.
Originally launched as a set of stickers in the late sixties by trading card company Topps, it didn't take long for Wacky Packages to eclipse baseball cards as the most popular collectible. With these official Wacky Packages Minis, the collection craze brings the parody products to a new time in a new dimension since these ridiculous supermarket send-ups are now labels for fully three-dimensional packages.
Measuring less than an inch and a half on their longest side, the adorable smallness of these itty bitty boxes is offset by the offputting names and slogans printed on them. At these sizes, you won't need to reserve too much space in your pantry and medicine cabinet for human-animal hybrid Barnum's Manimals (animal crackers), Alpoo dog food (Alpo), and Bald-Aid toupee (Band-Aid) bandage strips. But make sure to leave a little bit of space for your next gross grocery haul!
Wacky Packages are part cute, part irreverent, part nostalgic, and completely collectible!
